I spent 20 years acting in the Usinor group as Asia technical watcher and japanese and chinese translator, in charge of seeking out and providing valuable and synthetic news to the managers and engineers of the group.
Meanwhile, I noticed that in order to lower the cost of fastidious and expensive written translations due to the dramatic amount of japanese patents coming out in most of prior art patent researches, the patent attorney didn't have any other solution than picking up one japanese patent at random to be translated, thus giving up access to valuable informations.
In fact, 80% of the world technical information lies whithin patents and japanese patents represent more than a third of the world patent registrations.
The dramatic internal need led me to develop my own efficient method which I called TRANSLATION-CONSULTING, aiming at time and cost saving : once the engineer's specific needs are defined, I investigate judicious or embarrassing patents in order to extract the useful informations to give them to the engineer under written or oral form.
After ten years spent as the only western translator of the Japan Technical Watch of the R&D Department, this method proved itself so efficient that I was transfered at the Industrial Property Departement to take the charge of Manager for Patent Information and Japanese/ Chinese Patents Translation-Consulting.
